Royal Palms Resort Wedding Photography | A Rainy, Candlelit Phoenix Wedding

There are few places in Phoenix that feel quite like Royal Palms Resort. Tucked beneath the silhouette of Camelback Mountain, the property feels like its own little world, with winding stone pathways, lush gardens, towering palms, and architecture that brings a Mediterranean feel to the Arizona desert.

For couples dreaming of a wedding that feels romantic, intimate, and effortlessly elegant, it's easy to see why Royal Palms Resort is such a special place to celebrate.

As Phoenix wedding photographers, we love spaces that offer more than just a beautiful backdrop. We love places that invite people to slow down, be present, and enjoy the people around them. Royal Palms does exactly that.

Getting Married at Royal Palms Resort

Located at 5200 East Camelback Road in Phoenix, Royal Palms Resort and Spa is an iconic wedding destination nestled between Phoenix and Scottsdale. The historic property offers a collection of indoor and outdoor spaces, each with its own character.

One of the things that makes the resort particularly beautiful is how much variety there is throughout the property. From intimate garden courtyards to open lawns overlooking Camelback Mountain, couples have several settings to choose from depending on the atmosphere they envision for their wedding.

The Alegria Garden is especially romantic, with its stone walls, citrus trees, colorful flowers, and brick aisle. For couples drawn to open skies and mountain views, the Vernadero Lawn offers a beautiful outdoor setting surrounded by palm trees. The Orange Grove, with its historic character and garden atmosphere, is another lovely option for an evening celebration.

Beyond the ceremony and reception spaces, the resort's gardens and architecture create opportunities for portraits throughout the day without needing to leave the property.

A Wedding Day at Royal Palms

One of our favorite things about photographing weddings at a property like Royal Palms is the opportunity to let the day unfold naturally.

There are so many beautiful details to take in, from the architecture and landscaping to the thoughtful touches couples bring into their celebration. But what we find ourselves drawn to most are the moments happening in between.

The anticipation while getting ready, the way family members look at one another during the ceremony, friends embracing during cocktail hour, and the little interactions that might otherwise go unnoticed.

These are the moments that give a wedding its personality.

We approach wedding photography with the belief that the photographs should bring you back to how everything felt, not simply show you what everything looked like. We leave room for the unexpected, while also making time for thoughtful portraits of the two of you together.

At a venue as visually rich as Royal Palms, there's no shortage of beautiful places to create photographs that feel both intentional and natural.

Our Approach to Wedding Photography

Our approach is rooted in documentary storytelling, with an appreciation for natural light, honest emotion, and the beauty of everyday interactions.

We want couples to feel like they can fully experience their wedding rather than spend the day thinking about the camera. We'll offer direction when it helps, especially during portraits, but we also believe some of the most meaningful photographs happen when nobody is thinking about being photographed.

We photograph weddings using a combination of digital and film, bringing together the consistency and flexibility of digital photography with the distinctive character of 35mm and medium format film.

Film has a softness and nostalgia that we're especially drawn to. The subtle grain, beautiful color, and way it captures light add another layer to the story.

Rather than separating film photographs from digital images, we bring both together throughout your gallery so the entire day reads as one cohesive collection of memories.
